When you come to Imperia...

"Il Pesce Matto" should be at the top of your list! On the western side of Imperia in Borgo Prino, Il Pesce Matto is located among other seaside bars and restaurants. It has nice outdoor seating right next to the sea. The view is beautiful and expansive. Inside, it is larger than you might expect and, in fact, has two spacious of seating. The staff is friendly and the menu, designed like a newspaper, is full of delicious food.

The appetizers and starters

There are two types of mussels. One is in a marinara sauce. The other is in a red sauce with nduja, a particularly spicy salami paste that comes from Calabria. Also, the Cantabrian Sea anchovy fillet from Il Pesce Matto is an ideal appetizer. If you want an appetizer that is not seafood, the Tuscan fennel with fried gnocco with turmeric is a good alternative

For entrées, a good choice is the Queen's Seafood Linguine with a light gratin coating. It's filled with a medley of seafood in a red sauce. There's also the Spaghetti di Gragnano, made with garlic, chili pepper, olive oil and bottarga (a type of preserved fish eggs).

The main attraction of Il Pesce Matto Restaurant

The official title on the menu is "Horizontal of Fried Mixed Seafood and Vegetables". It comes in centimeter portions: 30 cm for 1, 60 cm for 2/3, and one meter for 4/5. We ordered the one-meter portion since we were five adults. Seeing this large presentation of fried seafood being brought to the table is quite an experience. Eating it was a happy thing. Everything is lightly battered and fried.

If you order this seafood stir fry you will be glad you did! There are other notable main courses on the menu, but this one is the star!

A surprising dessert

The tiramisu comes in the bottom and the top contains a thick melted dark chocolate. When the Moka pot arrives, it is unscrewed, revealing the tiramisu in its base. Then thick fresh whipped cream is generously spread on top and to your liking. Then thick chocolate is poured on top.
